Gather your tribe!

Gather your tribe“If you have one person you’re influenced by, everyone will say you’re the next whoever. But if you rip off a hundred people, everyone will say you’re so original!”

Who do you admire?  These people could be living or not.  Gathering the list of who you admire is a very fun exercise.  The next step is to identify why you admire them – or what about them you find most intriguing.

When you have your list of the qualities and actions you admire, look for duplications and trends.  Group like qualities together – they no longer have to be associated… Continue reading

Stealing Ideas

Stealing Ideas“It is better to take what does not belong to you than to let it lie around neglected.” —Mark Twain

The writer Wilson Mizner said if you copy from one author, it’s plagiarism, but if you copy from many, it’s research.

Look around your industry and see who is doing well.  Create top 10 lists of those that excel in a particular area such as customer service, new business, product innovation, services per customer, etc.  Examine your top 10 on the list and document what they are doing well and how they are doing it.  Send out staff members to… Continue reading

Google

GoogleDo you remember a time when we didn’t have Google?  Hard to recall isn’t it?  It puts so many ideas, facts, information right at our fingertips.  It is amazing.  I use Google for many different things.

More income – different friends?

More Income“There’s an economic theory out there that if you take the incomes of your five closest friends and average them, the resulting number will be pretty close to your own income.”

I stumbled across this quote reading a book the other day.  It makes a lot of sense.  There is a certain element of economics that figures into our activities and hobbies.  How and where we spend our time is often the source of our friends.  We enjoy spending time with people who are similar to us.

Many of our ideas, thoughts and motivations can be inspired by our friends. … Continue reading

Happy New Year!

happy new yearI’m starting off this year with an experiment.  I’ll continue to write this blog, however it may be a bit shorter.  I know you have a lot of things competing for your time and attention.  I’d like the blog to enhance your day, not detract.

I would also like this blog to be more interactive.  Please comment, share your thoughts and ideas.

I trust your holidays went well and now we are starting a new year!  So much to look forward to.  Cold and warm weather, new and old friends, new and comfortable experiences, changes and things that are the… Continue reading
