You don’t have to say a word!
When you want to get a message across sometimes you don’t have to say a word. Body language makes up 55% of communication, 38% is your tone of voice and only 7% is words.
Think about the last time you prepared for a difficult conversation. How much time did you spend on crafting just the right words to say and how much time did you spend thinking about how you wanted to deliver the conversation? What’s in a word? Everything! What are you saying to yourself and others? The words that you use can give you power or take it away. Here are some of my favorites for you to consider.
Hope – Hope is one of the most un-empowering words around. It allows you to believe you’re taking action, when, in reality, you’re taking no action at all. A close cousin to this word is try. Do you use hope and try to keep you from taking action?

I just returned from the 2013 Open Championship and I’m making this my repeat once again. Phil Mickelson won the 2013 tournament. A hard fought tournament with lots of competition. I hope you’ll enjoy this post once again this year.

Gripes!
I’m finding that as I age I’m getting more particular. In other words, things bug me more than they have – or perhaps I notice them more. Let me just put it out there and see what you think.
Gripe 1: Gum chewing! I remember in second grade I was sent to the principal’s office for chewing gum. It was a traumatic experience for me. Whenever I encounter someone chewing gum I seem to get mesmerized by it. It’s such a distraction. Think about eating a mint instead.
