Google

GoogleDo you remember a time when we didn’t have Google?  Hard to recall isn’t it?  It puts so many ideas, facts, information right at our fingertips.  It is amazing.  I use Google for many different things.

One use I’ve come across lately is when you want to kick start your creativity.  Google everything.  I mean everything.  Google your dreams, Google your problems.  Don’t ask a question before you Google it.  You’ll either find the answer or you’ll come up with a better question.

Put in your most difficult business issue and see what comes up.  Google can lead you to applications and areas that you might not have connected with your issue.

I also enjoy using Google images when I need a picture to depict an idea for a presentation.

  • I use Google:

    * as a research tool for writing my books for endurance runners and walkers;

    * to help me to learn what search phrases folks are using related to the topics that my books cover.

    I have heard repeatedly that Amazon is the third most popular search engine worldwide, so I also use Amazon for both of these goals.

    I do not use Google:

    * for images, given that all images that I use must have rights clearance (I use Fotolia instead.);

    * to publish my ebooks, given that Google indexes the entire contents of ebooks on its Google Play store.

    I could use Google:

    * for hosting Google Hangouts on Air, if I wanted to record video conferences for later playback on YouTube;

    * as yet another social-media site, but I don't see much value in that.
