Need more confidence?
The next three blogs are repeats of my first three blogs that I posted a year ago. I didn’t have many readers when I first started. I hope you’ll enjoy them as much as I enjoyed writing them.
Have you ever wanted to have more confidence or come across more confidently? But you don’t want to be arrogant or cocky.
First – you will not come across arrogant or cocky. Believe me, if you’re even concerned about that, you’re already hard wired that you won’t. Arrogant people aren’t concerned about coming across arrogantly – it’s a habit they’ve developed over time and they don’t even realize they are doing it. Sometimes arrogant people purposefully behave that way to make up for their own insecurities.
So how do you develop confidence? Confidence is the state of being certain. In other words, it is the absence of doubt.
So how do you get to that state if you haven’t had the experience?
Every day, in every way, you make decisions and you figure it out as you go along. Repetitive tasks you don’t even think about – there’s no doubt. It could be going to the grocery store, talking to the neighbors, or directing your children to behave in a certain way – you show confidence along the way.
You will always do the best that you can with the experience and information that you have at that time. You always figure it out. That doesn’t mean that someone somewhere can’t do something better than you – they can and that really doesn’t enter into the equation.
When you’re trying something new, it is completely natural to feel uncomfortable. It’s a given, accept it and embrace it.
Confidence comes from knowing you will figure it out – think about the past, what situations have you been in, that you’ve been totally uncomfortable with, yet somehow they work out fine – or at least you got past them.
You are who you are and that is perfect – others believe that too.
In the next blog we’ll get into some confidence building tips that you can use immediately.
Until then, please leave a comment or question that you have regarding confidence. The first tip to building confidence is knowing that you are not alone. Everyone feels uncomfortable and not confident at times.
